In these one-to-one sessions with a qualified Cycle Instructor, you can choose from a basic or advanced session, to suit your experience and ability. Sessions are suitable for non-riders or those who want advice on cycling on busier roads.
This March we are running a limited number of sessions in Potternewton Park and Hyde Park.
This is for those who do not know how to cycle or haven’t cycled in a long time.
This will start in a flat off-road area where we show you a basic check of your bike and useful skills for communicating with drivers then move onto quiet streets and then potentially busier roads, teaching the rules of the road and helping to gain confidence on the road and around traffic.
This is for confident rider who wants to learn new skills in how to cycle around the city more safely. Here we would start at the meeting point and perform similar checks to basic but move from quieter roads onto more busier ones, potentially tackling a route of your choice.
You must have a working bike to book either session (i.e. both brakes working and tyres pumped).
Things to bring: please wear appropriate clothing, (i.e. warm clothes, waterproof etc where needed), a helmet that fits you, a hi vis vest, water, a snack for after and hand sanitiser.
In the event of heavy rain or high winds we will contact you to reschedule to a more suitable day.
