As a community bicycle recycling and training co-op, we welcome people to come and get involved in what we do!
We hold regular volunteer sessions where you can come along to the workshop and get involved in a variety of bike recycling activites. Normally these are in the week, but this June we’re open 3 Saturdays as part of the Big Bike Revival!
Saturdays // 3rd, 10th, 17th June // 10am – 4pm
Feel free to come on down to practise your bike mechanics and help us salvage parts from broken bikes for our bike recycling project!
These are the sorts of things we will be doing…
- Stripping useful parts from bikes that cannot be repaired
- Dismantling broken wheels
- Sorting and cleaning parts
- Repairing and sorting inner tubes
Stripping bikes is a really good way to learn how bikes are put together and how to use different tools. If you’ve attended a course with us then this is a good opportunity to practise some of what you’ve learned, but equally if you don’t have any bike mechanics experience you are most welcome. The parts we strip will go into the Bike Mill and Pedallers’ Arms second hand parts crates for future use.
We have tea, coffee and biscuits on the go, just bring yourself in some warm clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit mucky (we have aprons and gloves but you still might get a bit oily!).
