As a community bicycle recycling and training co-op, we welcome people to come and get involved in what we do!
New Workshop Set-up!
We’re excited to be finally setting up in our very own space… upstairs from Pedallers’ Arms! Since we started 3 years ago, Bike Mill has become increasingly established, running many different projects alongside our regular bike recycling and courses. We’re now in the process of designing our own workshop, teaching & social space, and we’d love you to be involved!
There’ll be loads of opportunities – everything from painting & building, to organising the space & creative design. We’ll publish specific opportunities as they come up, but if you are keen on being involved please let us know!
Regular volunteer sessions
Every second Monday of the month, 10am-2pm, come along to the workshop and get involved in a variety of bike recycling activities. Come for the whole time or just drop in when you can. The sorts of things we do are…
- Stripping useful parts from bikes that cannot be repaired
- Dismantling broken wheels
- Sorting and cleaning parts
- Repairing and sorting inner tubes
Stripping bikes is a really good way to learn how bikes are put together and how to use different tools. If you’ve attended a course with us then this is a good opportunity to practise some of what you’ve learned, but equally if you don’t have any bike mechanics experience you are most welcome. The parts we strip will go into the Bike Mill and Pedallers’ Arms second hand parts crates for future use.
We have tea, coffee and biscuits on the go, just bring yourself in some warm clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit mucky (we have aprons and gloves but you still might get a bit oily!).
