We can deliver Dr Bike sessions and bicycle maintenance classes at your workplace, school or event in Leeds.

Dr Bike

You can hire us to send 1 or 2 mechanics to your organisation or event, to offer bike health checks, minor repairs and advice for cyclists.

We typically travel by bike, carrying the equipement we need by trailer. Because of this, at present we only offer this service within 7 miles of our workshop.

The service price is inclusive of consumables (eg. brake pads, cables), and is typically offered to cyclists for free. We usually recommend allowing 30 minutes for an appointment with the Dr Bike, which allows for diagnosis and minor repairs to be made.

You may choose to offer the service on an appointment or a drop-in basis, depending on what you think would work best for your audience, but remember 1 mechanic can typically see 1 person/bike per 30 minutes.

For public events (open to anyone), we also offer an admin service whereby we can create a public event on our website to help promote the event / organise bookings.

Please contact us for a specific quote using our Dr Bike submission form, letting us know your preferences.

Maintenance Classes

Learning bicycle mechanics together is a fantastic team building exercise. We can tailor our training to meet the needs of your group of colleagues, volunteers, or service users. Whether you want to get prepared for a group cycle, encourage day-to-day cycling or just get started on the basics, we can help.

We are currently running basic and intermediate courses , free to people in West Yorkshire aged 16+. If you would like to block book a free course at our workshop, or a Basic course at your venue, please contact us to enquire about availability.

If you are interested in a bespoke course at your venue, please contact us to discuss your needs. These courses are tailored made and the price reflects this. We offer a discount for public/third sector.

Typically, one tutor can deliver a class for up to 6 participants. We would advise a minimum class length of 2 hours, covering the M-check, bike set up, adjusting brakes, adjusting gears, and replacing brake pads, with the opportunity to ask specific questions. A 2 hour class with 6 people would primarily be discussion and demonstration; for a more hands-on class the length would need to increase or the number of participants decrease. Please note bicycles for participants to practise on are not included in this service; they must be brought by the participants or supplied by the venue.

All our mechanics are qualified to either Cytech or City and Guilds Level 2 and have many years experience teaching bike maintenance to a range of learners. Our three lead tutors are also accredited by Cycling UK to deliver their Basic and Advanced Bike Maintenance courses.
